Wulf Architekten has created the fire station in Straubenhardt, Germany.

While bringing together six previously independent firefighting units at one strategically located site, the new fire station was designed with the goal of implementing circular construction and sustainable planning.

It is one of Germany's first buildings planned according to the 'Cradle to Cradle' principle, aiming to set an example for future developments.

As part of the fundamental concept, the site's sloping terrain is used to minimise the sealed soil surface and to integrate the building harmoniously into the topography.

The separation and stacking of the different zones, recognisable from the outside, create the buildings' architectural and functional identity.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable building category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
