We+ has designed Refoam, a collection of styrofoam furniture.

Refoam is a series of furniture pieces that attempts to reframe today's overly complex relationship between humans and materials.

The material used is waste styrofoam that has been collected in Tokyo.

"Even though recycling rates are high, the process remains complex, and the amount of transportation between countries is another problem," said Refoam. "The aim of this project is to simplify the recycling process and to give styrofoam a completely new value."

By considering Tokyo as the origin of used materials, the project returns to the starting point of the relationship between humans and materials and explores new values of styrofoam.

This project has been longlisted in the material innovation category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
