Olgoo has built the Inside Home in Iran.

In a secluded village 45 kilometres from Tehran, the Inside Home is a subterranean villa built to optimise privacy.

The design aims to challenge the issue of unauthorised suburban development in Iran. Sustainability was also a factor, with natural materials used throughout and thermal insulation provided by the ground.

Each of the Inside Home's three 70-square-metre 'caves' have a distinct function, offering bedrooms, living spaces and a pool.

While the living areas benefit from maximum natural light and views, the bedrooms have less light to create a cocoon-like space.

An inner courtyard provides panoramic views without compromising privacy or the natural landscape.

This project has been shortlisted in the rural house category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
