Leckie Studio has designed the Lantern House, a single-family house in Vancouver, Canada.
Lantern House is a 240-square-metre family home on Vancouver's Westside, conceived as a sanctuary of light, shadow and stillness.
Organised around a large central void, the design draws in natural light while maintaining a sense of intimacy and enclosure.
Its material palette of rough stucco, board-formed concrete and untreated cedar responds to light and weather, ageing gracefully over time. Passive strategies guide the home's performance, while restrained detailing invites reflection and calm into the space.
"Rather than an object of display, Lantern House is an architecture of atmosphere, quiet, grounded and attuned to the rituals of daily life," said Leckie Studio.
This project has been longlisted in the house urban category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
