Schemata Architects has designed the Blue Bottle Coffee Toyosu Park Cafe in Tokyo, Japan.
This project is a cafe developed to be open to and part of a seaside urban park, and has become a place of relaxation for visitors.
Blue Bottle Coffee Toyosu Park Cafe was designed based on the innovative concept that the entire park should be regarded as a seating area.
The wooden building comprises three volumes with sloping roofs of different heights, intended to blend in with the trees in Toyosu Park, which sits next to Tokyo Bay.
"The park is in a good location and has always been a nice place for people to relax, so the idea was to blend the new building into the landscape so that it would not disturb the atmosphere of the park and would not clearly distinguish between the outdoors and indoors," said Schemata Architects.
This project has been longlisted in the hospitality project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
