Lebel & Bouliane has designed the interiors of Durham Spine & Pain Institute in Ajax, Canada.

The Durham Spine & Pain Institute is a treatment centre designed to support patients undergoing treatment for chronic and acute pain.

As a wellness-inspired clinic balancing clinical precision and natural materials, the Durham Spine & Pain Institute integrates acoustics, specialised medical spaces and calming interiors to support patient care.

The program includes reception, consultation and procedure rooms, an infusion lounge, a central nurses' station, and fluoroscopy imaging suites, along with staff offices and meeting spaces.

A warm, natural material palette – stoneware tiles, wood screens, custom millwork, and integrated seating – creates a cohesive, calming environment.

Preserved botanicals and nature-inspired elements reinforce the clinic's focus on wellness, offering a restorative atmosphere that aligns with its patient-centred model of care.

This project has been longlisted in the leisure and wellness interior category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
