Silo Studio has designed the Anodised Series, a limited collection in response to Relay's invitation to produce a work experimenting with a new material, process or format.

Silo Studio used the commission invitation to explore the design potential of a 'happy accident' in their studio.

Previously, an anodised surface was partially damaged, revealing a beautiful gradient colour beneath. As a result, Silo saw the potential.

From that starting point, the Silo team explored ways to recreate the effect, perfecting it over time to create a truly unique finish for the studio.

Deploying the new surface treatment into product design, Silo Studio created a series of unique products, establishing a new language for the studio, which has generated further commissions, including Browns Fashion London.

This project has been longlisted in the collectible design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
