Studio Laurids Gallée has designed Roseate Tern, a large-scale light sculpture.
Roseate Tern is a sculptural study in materiality and perception. Polished surfaces contrast with translucent volumes, creating a dynamic interplay of reflection and depth.
These qualities introduce optical distortions that shift with the viewer's movement, revealing ever-changing compositions and engaging the piece as a living presence within space.
This project explores the tension between reality and illusion, function and statement; while monumental in scale, Roseate Tern retains the delicate precision of smaller ornamental objects.
The work evokes a sense of ritual and presence, inviting not only visual appreciation but a bodily encounter.
This project has been shortlisted in the collectible design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
