Shortlisted for Dezeen Awards 2025 architect of the year, Frida Escobedo Studio is a Mexico City-based practice, founded by the eponymous designer in 2006.
The practice aims to defy traditional boundaries and works across experimental architectural projects, conservation, exhibitions and sculpture.
In 2021, Escobedo was the first female designer appointed to create a new contemporary wing for The Met in New York City. The limestone-clad building is an expansion of the Tang Wing and will increase the wing's gallery space by 50 per cent.
The studio has recently been selected as an associate designer for Moreau Kusunoki Studio to lead the renovation of the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
In 2019, Escobedo was honoured as an international fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and was the recipient of the Le Prix Charlotte Perriand prize at The Créateurs Design Association and Awards in 2024.
Frida Escobedo Studio is shortlisted in the architect of the year category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
