STARTT has designed the Pantheon Micro-Architectures for Archaeology in Rome, Italy.

This intervention project provides access to the archaeological area behind the Rotunda of the Pantheon – while promoting inclusivity through tailor-made micro-architectural insertions.

The spaces opened to the public – between the Rotunda and the remains of the Basilica of Neptune at its rear – testify to how the Pantheon was the head of a continuous longitudinal urban system.

"Like a cinematic sequence, visitors move through the spaces between the curve of the Rotunda and that of the apse of Neptune: the character of the space emerges from the relationship between the materials of contemporary architecture and those of Ancient Rome," said STARTT.
