Pretty Plastic has designed the Basic Third facade.

Basic Third transforms post-consumer rigid PVC from construction waste streams into a demountable facade tile.

The material, sourced from old window frames, gutters and downspouts, is mechanically processed and injection-moulded without additional binders or composites.

By using recycled PVC as opposed to virgin PVC, a lightly marbled surface where each tile has individual character is created.

As a result, the 30cm modular width aligns with standard building grids and the mono-material design ensures full recyclability at end of life.

The system debuted on Wageningen's Plus Ultra III, wrapping the Netherlands' first timber laboratory building in 30,987kg of upcycled plastic.
