Studio Grieveson has designed the extension of the St George Villa in London, United Kingdom.

St George Villa is a deep retrofit and extension that transforms a dark, damp Victorian basement in North London's Walthamstow into a light-filled home with an extra bedroom and expanded living space, immersed in nature.

The new extension, connected by a glazed link, sits apart from the original structure, where arched openings, echoing the villa's Victorian arches, give it a distinctive identity.

In addition, a planted courtyard draws daylight deep into existing rooms – while lush garden planting wraps the floor-to-ceiling glazing.

"Sustainability was a cornerstone of the brief: operational and embodied carbon were reduced, materials reused, and circular economy principles guided the design," said Studio Grieveson.
