Collectif Encore has transformed La Friche in d'Oloron-Sainte-Marie, France.

This project is the transformation of a former industrial warehouse into a low-carbon civic infrastructure through adaptive reuse, frugality and passive bioclimatic design.

By partially opening the roof, Collectif Encoure converts a deep enclosed commercial shed into a naturally ventilated public street and covered garden square, drastically reducing conditioned surfaces, technical systems and operational energy demand.

Developed through participatory workshops and collective construction processes, La Friche combines minimal intervention, locally sourced timber and reversible systems within an evolving democratic framework designed to support changing collective uses over time.
