Collectif Encore has renovated the La Friche in d'Oloron-Sainte-Marie, France.

This project transforms a former industrial warehouse into an open civic infrastructure reconnecting fragmented neighbourhoods through a covered public street, collective spaces and evolving mixed uses.

Developed through temporary occupations, participatory workshops and open construction processes involving residents, La Friche combines low-carbon adaptive reuse, bioclimatic design and intentionally open-ended spaces supporting changing collective practices over time.

Locally sourced timber from nearby communal forests, minimally transformed materials and reversible construction systems reinforce a frugal architectural approach where sustainability, public life and collective appropriation are inseparable.
