Woonwerk Architecten has renovated Oudemansstraat in Antwerp, Belgium.

This project involves the transformation of two buildings on Crauwelengang and Oudemansstraat — a former nightclub converted into affordable housing and a renovated building containing three compact homes.

An area historically associated with prostitution, Antwerp's Schipperskwartier is gradually developing into a lively neighbourhood, where affordable housing is a key catalyst for social change, opening the district to diverse target groups.

"Our project on Oudemansstraat is part of this transition, contributing to the development of a contemporary and attractive district," said Woonwerk Architecten.

"The collective garden resulting from this renovation assignment enriches residents with shared spaces, social interaction and a sense of safety."
