Chat Architects has designed the Na-Eh Bamboo Market in Ratchaburi Province, Thailand.

The Na-Eh Market, created for the Karen Indigenous community of Ratchaburi Province, consists of nine open-air 'indigenous food' stalls on ground level and an elevated eating loft that frames views of the nearby forest.

"Its triangulated bamboo structure was envisioned not only as a forest food court, but as a breeze vessel that invites the wind," said Chat Architects.

"Vendors and customers can 'hear' and 'see' the wind while cooking and eating as the scaffolding allows members to customise the space with 'tungs' (traditional Karen string mobiles) and bamboo wind chimes."

The Na-Eh Bamboo Market allows the community to create an additional source of income by selling local authentic dishes to the public along the interstate road, supplementing their traditional rotational crop farming practice.
