Studio SC has designed The Oculus as part of the Australian War Memorial's new entrance.

The Oculus is the symbolic centrepiece of the Australian War Memorial's new Southern entrance.

Conceived as an inverted dome inspired by the Hall of Memory, it combines bronze-clad steel ribs and bespoke glazing to filter natural light into the space below.

Acting as both a wayfinder and a contemplative installation, the Oculus creates shifting patterns of illumination and shadow that encourage pause, reflection and connection to the Memorial's purpose.
