Benedict Hobson is co-CEO of Dezeen.

He graduated from the University of Sussex with a first-class English Literature degree in 2009 and joined Dezeen in 2011 after spending two years working for a London architecture firm.

From 2012 to 2018, Benedict led Dezeen's in-house creative team Dezeen Studio, which produces the online magazine's original video content and delivers projects as diverse as print publications, exhibitions, talks and events for prestigious clients around the world.

From 2018 to 2022, he held the position of chief content officer, which saw him oversee Dezeen's editorial, video and social media output, as well as spearheading Dezeen's digital development strategy.

Benedict was appointed as Dezeen's co-CEO together with Wai Shin Li in 2022.

Dezeen has won more than 20 awards under his leadership, including multiple wins at the BSME Awards, PPA Awards, AOP Awards, British Media Awards and IBP National Journalism Awards.

Dezeen beat media giants the Guardian, CNN and Google to a prestigious Webby Award in 2015 and came ahead of Vice, GQ and The Late Late Show to win an AOP Digital Publishing Award for best use of video in 2017. Dezeen received multiple accolades for the groundbreaking Virtual Design Festival in 2020 and won a second Webby Award in 2021. In 2022, Dezeen was named editorial brand of the year by the International Building Press and won business publication of the year at the PPA Independent Publisher Awards.

In 2023, Benedict was named leader of the year for media and the digital industries at The Drum Awards 2023 alongside his fellow co-CEO Wai.

Benedict is an experienced public speaker and digital media consultant and has spoken at events in cities including London, Berlin, Beijing and Sao Paulo. He has hosted talks, moderated panel discussions, facilitated workshops and taken part in judging panels around the world.
