The rug is part of a sustainable development initiative in Rajasthan called Artisan Originals where weavers can design their own rug for the first time.
Manju, the artisan behind the Artisan Originals rug Aas Pass, uses her surroundings and village life as an inspiration to design this rug. She places the varied colours of her countryside home in abstract patterns and uses the textures created by covering floors and walls with cow dung as the main design idea of her first Manchaha rug. The rug is handmade with leftover handspun yarn with 222,184 individual knots.
