Catalyst Building
by MGA | Michael Green Architecture

Benjamin Benschneider

The Catalyst Building is pursuing Zero Energy and Zero Carbon certification by the International Living Future Institute, which would make it one of the largest buildings in North America to meet both standards.

Located in Spokane, Washington, the 164,800 sq.ft., 5-storey CLT building sits in a highly sustainable district called South Landing District. It acts as an incubation space to synergise industry and academia with offices, classrooms, study areas, and an innovation laboratory. Catalyst demonstrates that a mass timber building can exceed the performance of a comparable steel and concrete building and symbolises Spokane and Washington State’s commitments to sustainability.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable building category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
