Guangzhou S.P.I Design has designed the Bailuwan Cherry Blossom Town in Rizhao, China.

This project turns the topic of cherry blossoms into an experience for all of the senses.

Bailuwan Cherry Blossom Town features three key elements: the design of a pure cherry orchard, elevated in the sky; a base of emerging textured walls made from local granite boulders that blur the boundaries of vertical walls and horizontal paths; and winding roads covered in cherry blossom petals to complete the impression of the forest valley.

As visitors wander through a winding, seemingly archaic route, reminiscent of a valley, attention is drawn to the cherry trees.

A perfectly composed landscape, which focuses on what is essential and whose poetic power and charm are difficult to resist.

This project has been longlisted in the landscape project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
