Studio Perspektiv has designed Base4Work in Bratislava, Slovakia.

This project is focused on the renovation of one of the few buildings with industrial history left in Bratislava that has managed to adapt to the current needs.

One of them is the functionalist building of Jurkovič's Heating Plant, which has been opened to the public after a three-year renovation as a modern coworking centre –Base4Work from Studio Perspektiv as interior designers.

The interior design itself was conceived to ensure that the original parts remain visible and the imprint of Dušan Jurkovič is preserved as much as possible. However, Studio Perspektiv interpreted Jurkovič’s work in the spirit of the 21st century.

When designing the interior of the co-working space, the designers perceived the context of the original monument and the new building. They tried to complement the space and relate to it both in style and in the geometry of the new elements. In addition, Studio Perspektiv wanted to make sure that both the new and original parts would be clearly recognisable – they didn’t want to imitate the original work.

This project has been longlisted in the large workspace interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
