ADHOC Architectes designed the Chalet Baie-de-Valois in Grand-Anse Park, Canada.

This project is located on the shores of Lake St. Louis in Grande-Anse Park, where the reconstruction of the Baie-de-Valois Chalet is part of a shore revitalisation project claimed by Pointe-Claire citizens.

The building incorporates a large community hall, as well as spaces to enhance the local water experience and activities offered to over 4,000 citizens and visitors who visit the area annually.

Taking inspiration from the geological stratification of the site, the Chalet Baie-de-Valois reflects the surrounding landscape – the angled roof is reminiscent of a tree canopy, while the base of the building represents the geometry of a rocky shoreline.

Several sustainable principles were integrated into the design of the project to ensure it plays an important role in reducing energy consumption and optimising passive solar gain.

This project has been longlisted in the cultural building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
