Appareil Architecture has collaborated with cabinet maker L’Autre Atelier to create two chair models that encapsulate Quebec's craftsmanship.
The project was commissioned by Les Jardins de Métis, and comprises two chair models made of solid wood that illustrate local craftsmanship and Quebec's wood products. The Elsie Collection is both solid and elegant, expressing a language of strong and fine proportions.
The chair's deceptively simple structure offers a balance between classical inspiration and contemporary aesthetic, highlighting an innovative vocabulary of form. It stands as a new expression of design by removing all superfluous elements while keeping the seat and back as essence of the structure.
