Pekka Littow has designed Majamaja in Helsinki, Finland.

This project is a wooden-built and fully equipped eco-house that operates 100% off-the-grid. Majamaja was launched as a pilot village in the Helsinki archipelago that welcomes pioneering guests for a short-term off-grid experience.

Majamaja's solution is based on customised in-house rainwater capture and closed-loop water treatment, recycling and reuse and solar and wind energy storage. The patented green technology combines with a modular and mobile prefab building method. No centralised grid or pre-construction is required, other than full grey-water recycling and reuse.

Majamaja was initiated by architect Pekka Littow and developed by an international team of designers and water and energy engineering.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
