Penoyre & Prasad has designed the UCL Pearl in London, United Kingdom.

This project is the Person-Environment Activity Research Laboratory (PEARL) at University College London (UCL) and is the first net-zero carbon in-use building at the university.

The facility's objective was to create a world where everyone can experience an improved quality of life through better design of the environment, using an evidence-based understanding of how people interact with it, for a more accessible and sustainable future.

PEARL is a unique, purpose-built research facility for the creation of full-size environments to test how people use infrastructure and cities.

"A building to house the world!" added Professor Nick Tyler, Director of UCL Centre for Transport Studies.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
