Michael Grubb Studio has created the lighting for the Ad Gefrin distillery.
Ad Gefrin reawakens the Northumbrian tradition for whisky, a unique opportunity to illuminate a new visitor experience and whisky distillery at the centre of the local community in Wooler, steeped in Anglo-Saxon history.
Lighting and architectural design pay significant attention to detail, with warm glows of light illuminating special features.
"The impressive, circular atrium sets the tone, light encircles the space, drawing the gaze up to the copper skylight," said Michael Grubb Studio. "[It's] a community focal point, that also comprises [a] bistro, restaurant, retail and museum."
After dark, striking views of three large, copper pendants and pot stills glow, creating a landmark to support placemaking.
