The Grid Architects has designed the Tarang arts space in Gandhinagar, India.
Derived from the Sanskrit word translating as "waves", Tarang was conceptualised as a versatile and adaptive Pavilion space. Its purpose is to serve as an immersive exhibition platform for art and culture.
Tarang's concept emerged from the desire to create a structure distinct from the urban context, where box-like structures dominated the surroundings.
The design responds to the southwestern context of the site in response to the hot and arid climate of the Western region in India.
"Tarang was born from boundless inspirational client trust, which granted us creative freedom," said The Grid Architects.
"Without structural constraints, our minds flowed like waves of thought, shaping a dynamic ethos where ideas evolved."
This project has been longlisted in the small project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
