Lorcan O'Herlihy Architects (LOHA) has designed Barrington1503, a coliving project in Los Angeles, United States.

The newly completed Barrington1503 coliving project reshapes how thoughtful design enhances community spaces.

Barrington1503 introduces much-needed density with 18 units and 79 bedrooms. By redefining traditional modes of housing, this project fosters community building, prioritises healthy living environments and contributes to making Los Angeles a more hospitable place to live.

The project thoughtfully addresses the complexities of communal living, providing an environment that supports both interaction and solitude in equal measure. Four separate volumes foster an interior courtyard space for natural light and opportunities for social interaction.

Upon entering, residents move through a shared private courtyard and ascend via common circulation pathways that guide them upward.

These pathways are more than just thoroughfares – they are spaces of connection, allowing for chance encounters and fostering an organic sense of community.

By carefully structuring a gradient of social engagement, Barrington1503 creates a layered transition between public and private realms.

This project has been longlisted in the housing category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
