Courtney McDonnell Architects has transformed and restored the Brick Built House in Dublin, Ireland.

Situated on the outskirts of Dublin city, this project transforms a 1950s red-brick semi-detached home, blending thoughtful restoration with a contemporary pale brick extension.

"The home was reimagined by stripping back inefficient past extensions and restoring the original structure," said Courtney McDonnell Architects.

A new light-filled side extension provides a welcoming and functional entrance, addressing the challenge of the original dark hallway located on the property's gable.

In addition, high-quality materials such as oak, pale brick and polished concrete enhance the home's warmth and longevity.

This project has been longlisted in the house extension category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
