Studio Modijefsky has designed the interiors of De Witt, a revitalised cinema and brasserie in Dordrecht, Netherlands.
De Witt by Studio Modijefsky transforms a historic cinema in Dordrecht into a vibrant cultural destination, blending rich history with modern design to create a cultural hub for food, film and community.
The design weaves together the building's past as a convent, school and laboratory, with influences from the silver screen.
A spacious brasserie, elevated seating, and dramatic bar create a welcoming atmosphere, while custom details like wimple-shaped windows and cloister arch lights evoke the building's history.
Rooted in the city's unique colour palette, De Witt offers a dynamic blend of dining, cinema and community engagement, celebrating Dordrecht's heritage and artistic spirit.
This project has been longlisted in the bar and cafe interior category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
