Studio 502 has transformed the interiors of Villa Toncic, a listed Secessionist villa, into a contemporary dining destination at the Mokosh Restaurant in Split, Croatia.

By navigating strict preservation rules in this project, Studio 502 has retained the original features of the villa, like wood panelling and ceiling details, while introducing bold, heritage-informed interventions.

Highlights of this project include commissioned contemporary artwork, reinterpretations of historical motifs and the use of rattan and custom joinery to merge form with function.

Distinctive salon spaces explore different approaches to adaptive reuse and the outdoor dining area extends the interior concept through restored vintage furniture and a carefully considered layout.

As a result, this project offers a sensitive yet forward-thinking model for reimagining historic architecture.

This project has been longlisted in the restaurant interior category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
