DoDesign has designed Drifting Stones: The Stacks & The Hut, a scenic addition to a private mountain retreat nestled in the mountain region of Chongqing, China.

The design of the Drifting Stones seeks to create an experience that contrasts with nature, using an immersive, ever-changing perspective to invite visitors to observe and connect with nature on a deeper level and ultimately, find the balance between humans, architecture and nature.

"On one hand, we mimic natural elements and textures to blend the structure seamlessly with its surroundings," said DoDesign.

"On the other hand, we introduce materials like steel, mirrored surfaces, and glass to make the architecture stand out with a supernatural, gravity-defying presence."

This approach aims to create a sense of extraordinary nature.

This project has been longlisted in the small project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
