Additive Tectonics has designed econitWood™, redefining material innovation by transforming sawmill waste into 3D-printable wood composites.

econitWood™ is a revolutionary 3D-printable wood composite that repurposes sawmill waste, emphasising ecological responsibility, regional sourcing and fire safety.

Developed by Additive Tectonics, this project utilises cutting-edge 3D printing technology to create meticulously defined geometric shapes, enabling intricate designs and optimised material use.

Its zero-waste philosophy ensures the efficient use of every wood particle without generating waste, unlike traditional manufacturing methods.

The made-to-order system reduces excess inventory and environmental footprint. This material system bridges contemporary digital design with sustainable practices, offering broad functional and aesthetic possibilities while preserving the wood's inherent CO2 storage.


This project has been longlisted in the material innovation category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
