MontgomeryChoi has designed Edenton Micro Suites, a multi-tenant rental housing in North Carolina, United States.

Edenton Micro Suites is a multi-tenant rental housing designed to overcome stubborn barriers to creating affordable missing-middle housing in urban neighbourhoods.

In close collaboration with development, a concept of 10 micro-suites was devised within the framework of residential construction, akin to a shared house but with greater independence between tenants.

Each suite is designed meticulously for efficiency, but also flooded with natural light and connected to private outdoor spaces.

Applicable to any urban residential property, the novel approach mitigates the challenges of cost and entitlement to create 10 new homes where a single-family house once stood.

This project has been longlisted in the housing category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
