Debartolo Architects has designed El Oasis, a community centre in Chandler, Arizona.

El Oasis is a community centre providing after-school programs for teens, vocational training, culinary apprenticeships, gardening and community events designed to serve families, seniors, and youth in a marginalised Arizona community.

"It will honour and celebrate cultural traditions, inspire children to dream big and provide families with a sense of safety and security," said Debartolo Architects.

"It will offer a sense of belonging to those living in isolation and become a place where this vibrant community can truly thrive. An oasis that the community deserves."

Beyond its practical function, the project aims to inspire and uplift the community, becoming a source of pride that fosters a new generation of citizens who are invested in and care for their neighbourhood.

This project has been longlisted in the civic project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
