Mapa Interiors has designed the interiors of Onyx, a new nail salon in Toronto, Canada.
Onyx at the Bay Adelaide Centre redefines the urban self-care landscape with a confident interplay of materiality and form.
Positioned in Toronto's financial district, the space rejects conventional beauty salon tropes in favour of a refined, industrial sensibility.
Limewashed walls provide a textural counterpoint to the sharp precision of mirrored stainless steel, while semi-translucent acrylic panels create a threshold between intimacy and exposure.
Concrete-inspired surfaces anchor the palette, their raw tactility offset by high-gloss reflections that amplify light and depth.
"Onyx is a meticulously crafted salon, designed for those who appreciate sharp aesthetics, bold design and a departure from the expected," said Mapa Interiors.
This project has been longlisted in the leisure and wellness interior category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
