Sordo Madaleno has designed Rancho del Bosque in Valle de Bravo, Mexico.

Rancho del Bosque, a private home in the mountainous Valle de Bravo, harmonises with its 20,000-square-metre hillside site, emphasising seclusion and a strong connection to nature.

Divided into four bedroom pavilions, a central living pavilion and a service wing, the house is embedded in the hillside to preserve pine trees and embrace valley views.

The design emphasises harmony with nature through modular volumes, outdoor pathways and raised walkways that blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living.

Subtly pigmented concrete blends with the natural surroundings, while the pavilions' curved rear elevations evoke protective, wall-like forms integrated into the rugged forest landscape.

This project has been longlisted in the house rural category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
