Studio on the Rye has designed the two-storey extension and renovation of Rusty House on the Rye in London, England.

Rusty House on the Rye is a 1950s property located in the Holly Grove Conservation Area of Peckham.

Local architect Sarah Borowiecka of Studio on the Rye renovated and extended the house by updating the thermal efficiency of the existing house, as well as providing a new kitchen/dining space, utility room, office, snug and master bedroom suite.

The design, based on simple monolithic forms, sits comfortably within its context.

In addition, weathered Corten-steel was chosen for the cladding to complement the tone of the house's red brick and to introduce a visually striking element to the design.

This project has been longlisted in the house extension category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
