REX has designed the Lindemann Performing Arts Center at Brown University on Rhode Island, United States.

The Lindemann is a radically flexible arts 'laboratory' used for performance, teaching and research that pushes architectural innovation to inspire new forms of artmaking and collaboration in music, theatre, dance and media.

The six surfaces of its shoebox-shaped main hall can be physically, acoustically and technically modulated to transform the space into five preset configurations and manifold secondary modes.

These configurations include an immersive experimental media cube, a recital hall, an end-stage theatre, a concert hall and a large flat floor configuration manifold secondary modes.

A public clerestory at the stage level cantilevers through the building, exposing the activities inside to the campus and city communities.

This project has been longlisted in the cultural project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
