Fotofoto has designed The Zero-Waste Disposable, an innovative, closed-loop 'disposable' film camera.Fotofoto redefines sustainability in analogue photography with a thoughtfully designed, upcycled 'disposable' camera—crafted from reclaimed camera cores, featuring proprietary auto‐flash, vibrant colourways and a fully closed‐loop lifecycle.
Fotofoto's brief was to reinvent the disposable camera for today's creative, eco-conscious consumers, such as Millennial and Gen Z photographers, design enthusiasts and sustainability advocates.
The Zero‐Waste Disposable reclaims functional cores from discarded disposables and enhances them with a light-sensing chip to eliminate blank exposures.
Zero is designed and assembled by Fotofoto's six-person team based in Brooklyn, New York, where its outer shell is moulded from recycled plastic and all film processing, refurbishment and final assembly occur in-house – ensuring quality control and traceability throughout a truly circular product lifecycle.
This project has been longlisted in the sustainable design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
