Szymon Keller Studio has designed the interiors of Hotel Palacio de Godoy in Cáceres, Spain.

This project was set out to restore the Renaissance Palace of one of the most important figures in the history of Extremadura and Peru: Francisco de Godoy y Aldana, who commissioned its construction after returning from founding the city of Lima in Peru.

After three decades of abandonment, breathing new life into this building also revitalised a very impoverished neighbourhood in the historic city centre of Cáceres, a Unesco World Heritage Site.

"The biggest challenge was fitting the demands of a five-star hotel into a historic building while developing an interior narrative rooted in the cultural exchange between Spain and Peru," said Szymon Keller.
