AKVS Architecture has designed Ložionica in Belgrade, Serbia.

Ložionica revitalises Belgrade's historic railway site through adaptive reuse and new structures, offering a unique mix of public spaces and cultural programs within a challenging urban context.

The 100-year-old boiler room, water tower and turntable are preserved and complemented by new yellow-steel structures: a levitating gallery, pedestrian bridge and rotating community table.

As a result, the vast open space is revitalised and opened to the public – while a new mixed-use office building is added to the complex, featuring a large public panoramic terrace accessible via an open-air escalator and a bamboo oxygen envelope surrounding it.
