Mylla Hytte
by Mork Ulnes Architects

A retreat for a young family, Mylla Hytte is a compact yet expansive cabin, located north of Oslo.

The house sits firmly on a remote hilltop and is formed by the forces of the landscape around it. Mylla breaks apart the traditional rectangular cabin building plan into a pinwheel shape that radiates into the Norwegian landscape, framing four distinct vistas - Mylla Lake, the rolling hillside, the sky and a towering forest. The building's materials complement the form's clarity. The pine exterior is simple and honest, registering the seasons as it weathers, and an all-plywood interior lends a warmth and unity to the space.
