Ten lighting, homeware and furniture designs presented at Milan design week

Dezeen Showroom: a pendant light made from glass orbs and a plush, ribbed sofa are among the furniture designs on Dezeen Showroom that were showcased during Milan design week.

Ten top brands presented a number of newly released products during Milan design week, including a sound-dampening, single-person work pod that can be easily packed away and a bench made from aluminium that takes cues from the appearance of pasta.

118 pedant light by Omer Arbel for Bocci

118 pendant light by Omer Arbel for Bocci

Multidisciplinary designer Omer Arbel released a delicate light made up of blown glass orbs in collaboration with Canadian design brand Bocci.

The orbs have biomorphic patterns as a result of the glass blowing process and are suspended by braided metal coaxial cables. 118 is available as a single light pendant or clustered together as a larger statement lighting piece.

Beige three-seater Lunetta sofa by Leolux

Lunetta sofa by Studiopepe for Leolux

Furniture brand Leolux collaborated with Italian design practice Studiopepe on a sofa that has a laid back profile comprising plush cushions with a sturdy round-edged outer shell.

Lunetta intends to "embrace you like a blanket" and is available in a range of materials, including fabric and faux leather to suit a variety of interior styles.

Citron lamp by Tongqi Lu Design

Citron lamp by Tongqi Lu Design

A soft mood light that resembles the texture of a citrus fruit was designed by Shanghai-based studio Tongqi Lu Design.

Citron is stabilised by its metallic base that serves as a platter, which reflects the warm glow of the lamp when in use.

Reva Cocoon by Pedrali

Reva Cocoon outdoor sofas by Patrick Jouin for Pedrali

Italian furniture brand Pedrali worked with designer Patrick Jouin on a range of modular outdoor sofas characterised by backs and sides made up of taut ropes.

Reva Cocoon comes in long, corner and chaise modules in either standard or high-back versions for added privacy.

Two Mono study pods by Bogaerts

Mono study pod by Philip Bogaerts and René Vullings for Bogaerts

Designers Philip Bogaerts and René Vullings worked with office furniture brand Bogaerts to create a portable, fold-up work pod that creates a soundproof, single-person work booth.

Mono has a range of optional components, including standing height desks and double width seats, all affixed with a fold out cantilevered desk. A cut-out handle and two wheels mean it can be manoeuvred as required.

Silver, blue and orange benches in mid air

Bello! bench by Lars Beller Fjetland for Hydro

Aluminium manufacturer Hydro worked with Norwegian designer Lars Beller Fjetland on a simplistic bench with distinctively ridged surfaces reminiscent of pasta.

Bello! is composed of nearly 90 per cent recycled and 100 per cent recyclable aluminium, and comes in both bright and neutral colours.

Volant chandelier by Ross Gardam

Australian designer Ross Gardam has created a statement lighting piece that has the dynamism of a kinetic sculpture.

Volant is composed of slender horizontal and vertical metal bars threaded with tubular shades that contain the lighting elements. It is available in a range of metallic and glass finishes.

Alcoba table by Selma Lazrak

Designer Selma Lazrak took cues from Moorish and Moroccan architecture and landscapes for the design of this table, which is made from solid walnut timber.

Alcoba is characterised by the gradually sloping niches carved into its base that create an interplay of light and shadow.

Two Folia crystal glass outdoor lamps by Saint-Louis

Folia portable lamp by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance for Saint-Louis

Glass manufacturer Saint-Louis and French designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance have released a portable lamp that comprises a faceted glass shade capped with an ash wood lid.

Folia contains a rechargeable LED light fitting that casts a mandala of light on surfaces when set down. It is suitable for use indoors and outdoors.

Constellation lighting by David Rockwell for Lasvit

New York City's Grand Central Terminal ceiling mural was the reference point for American architect David Rockwell when designing this collection of lighting for Lasvit.

Constellation contains wall, ceiling, floor and table lamps that feature hemispherical lamps united by straight metallic connectors.
