Promotion: the robust, precision-engineered quality of a restaurant kitchen can be recreated at home with Fisher & Paykel's latest Professional Style appliances.
The Professional Style appliances are one of three product design styles in the New Zealand brand's luxury range, alongside the Minimal and Contemporary offerings.
Fisher & Paykel aimed to bring the best qualities of professional cooking environments into the home, while offering the refinement and integration befitting a bespoke domestic kitchen.
High-grade stainless steel surfaces, easy-to-grab bull-nose handles and precise temperature and humidity controls characterise the products, which include ovens, hobs, refrigerators and wine cabinets.
Flush installation, smooth junctions and fine 2-millimetre gaps deliver on refinement, either imbuing products with an architectural presence of their own or concealing them seamlessly behind cabinetry.
"With the Professional Style, the intention is not for the appliance to disappear, but for it to feel completely resolved within the kitchen," said Fisher & Paykel head of industrial design (cooking) Adam Moody.
"The stainless-steel presence is deliberate, but so is the precision: the way the product aligns, the way it sits with surrounding cabinetry, and the way its proportions support the broader composition," he continued.
Fisher & Paykel identified the sights, sounds and rhythms of professional kitchens – "the movement of pans, the weight of metal in the hand, the choreography of preparation and service" – as part of their appeal and worked to translate those qualities into the design through robustness and tactility.
The design features precision-engineered dials on the cooktops and range cooker, and carefully calibrated oven doors and telescopic rails.
The Professional Style is part of Fisher & Paykel's vision to bring the "beauty of choice" to architects, designers and homeowners,
supporting the creation of bespoke kitchens with a cohesive aesthetic while delivering the same levels of performance.
The brand explained that this shift to seeing the kitchen as a social space with connected dining and living functions means appliances now need to be considered not only as tools, but also as design elements.
"Luxury is increasingly personal," said Fisher & Paykel. "Kitchens are no longer singular expressions of status or function, but more personal reflections of architecture, material preferences and ways of living."

In contrast to the Professional Style appliances, the Minimal and Contemporary Styles have a quieter visual presence, making use of smokey dark or lightly reflective silver-grey glass and slim or no handles.
Professional Style products come in a universal width of 76 centimetres for easy configuration.
