Neiheiser Argyros has renovated the Art_1 Office in Athens, Greece.

This project is the renovation of an existing 40-year-old office building that was stripped back to its structure and completely reimagined for the present.

"The original massing logic was recovered and emphasised [and] what used to be a confusing and run-down muddle of geometric clashes is now untangled and rearticulated as if the building is composed of twelve separate buildings, each with its own cladding logic and interior atmosphere," said Neiheiser Argyros.

In addition, a green roof and circular pergola create an outdoor event space at the top of the building that complements a network of balconies and terraces, all encouraging new forms of collaboration.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable renovation category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
