RA! has designed Hacienda Wabi, a 15-apartment, three-story building in Tulum, Mexico.
Hacienda Wabi is a residential complex in the Tulum jungle, designed to embrace a ruin-like aesthetic, allowing nature to slowly reclaim its place over time.
This project draws on local and traditional construction techniques, using block walls and a conventional structural system based on load-bearing walls and solid concrete slabs.
A fragmented courtyard connects 15 apartments across three levels, each featuring terraces and winding pathways leading to communal areas.
Regarding the finishes, stone was used on the ground floor to give it a plinth-like character, while the upper levels feature a traditional local coating made of chukum, which provides the project with a unique identity.
This project has been longlisted in the housing category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
