Amass has designed the interiors of Onland Shanghai in Shanghai, China.

Onland Shanghai is a retail space in Shanghai organised around a system of movable, reconfigurable display elements.

Rather than relying on fixed fixtures, the space is structured by foldable, double-sided display units that function as screens, stalls and partitions.

Inspired by workshop and street practices, lightweight hanging systems with cotton ropes and simple counterweights allow small objects to be arranged flexibly.

Standard industrial shelving is combined with inserted wooden cabinets, forming an adaptable base structure.

As a result, this project shifts retail from static display toward a continuously adjustable system shaped by use.
