Hariri Pontarini Architects has designed The Well in Toronto, Canada

This porous, car-free, work-live-play community took inspiration from brick-lined pedestrian routes through an adjacent heritage district whose desire lines flow seamlessly into The Well.

This project's scale, landscaping and materiality all support urban integration and introduce itself by not building any doors.

Nine passageways – some grand, some discreet – access six mixed-use residential buildings and one office tower, all connected by a podium 'spine', a multi-tiered promenade beneath an undulating glazed canopy.

Event programming in the open-air public space of this LEED Platinum-certified development contributes to a new paradigm of mixed-use development and creates a new destination for Toronto.
